A court in Russia has just blocked YouTube. Other countries that have blocked YouTube are China, Libya, Morocco, Turkey and Iran. But China, Morocco and Turkey later lifted their bans.
The Russian court's ruling further threatens free speech by blocking four other web sites for “extremist” content. This includes the Internet Archive web.archive.org which stores old copies of deleted Web pages, and three Russian online libraries.
From the Moscow Times article - "The Internet is widely recognized as the last uncensored media in Russia, and the ruling nudges the country toward the likes of Iran and Pakistan, which have blocked YouTube."
By banning YouTube completely they are also blocking President Dmitry Medvedev's Kremlin channel which, by the way, blocks viewers from leaving comments.
